Tether, the largest issuer of stablecoins, said that the number of USDT users has reached 500 million. CEO Paolo Ardoino called it “perhaps the largest step to involve people in the global financial systеm.”
Currently, the supply of USDT is about $182 billion, ahead of competitors such as USDC and USDe. Every 16th person on the planet uses Tether.
Tether is also in talks to raise up to $20 billion at a valuation of $500 billion, which could make it one of the most expensive private companies in the world. It is planned to launch a new USAT stablecoin for the US market by the end of the year.
